2016 Australasia’s Most Powerful Man and Woman Championship

On the weekend of June 4-5th, some of the Coco’s Gym crew flew down to Sydney to participate at the 2016 Australasia’s most powerful man and woman championship. 3 females and 3 guys represented Coco’s Gym at this national event. On the female side, Lucia competed in the under 63.5kg, Jodie competed in the under 82kg and Rachel competed in the Open class. On the male side, Leigh competed in the under 90kg, Jean-Stephen “Coco” competed in the under 105kg class and Jason competed in the Master class.

The championship was composed of 5 strongman events:

– Event 1: Truck pull over a 20m distance
– Event 2: Overhead medley (Keg, Log and Axle)
– Event 3: Max axle deadlift
– Event 4: Carry medley (Yoke, Farmers, Keg)

Overall, Coco’s gym got two titles of Australasian strongest men, one from Leigh in the men under 90kg and the other from Coco in the men under under 105kg. Rachel finished second in the Open women, Lucia finished second in the under 63.5kg women class, Jodie finished tied third in the under 82kg women class and Jason finished third in the Master men class.
This competition was a positive experience for the whole crew and reinforces the status of Coco’s Gym as the home of strongman in Australia.
